Video demo : Anthro horses

By Kelly | January 5, 2008

Here’s an example of how I draw anthro horse characters, and some brainstorming after I demonstrate how to construct the head.
Artwork drawn in OC v1.1 beta.

    Great pictures. I actually do just fine with bodies, its the ears and face that usually mess me up, but you’re videos and tutorials help a lot. You rock, what can I say? I can never seem to get the ears to look right when character is looking down, though. It’s just a weird position to draw a pointy ear from I suppose, but I just need to practice. Spending an hour on the ears was kinda frustrating for me. Fun, but frustrating :3

    Wow, that was helpful. I remember a while ago I used to be working on some anthro comic and my horse characters always look like crap. xD

    Wow! This is gorgeous! I kinda figured out my problem is the same as the two posters above, so I’m sticking with fanart for the time being. Still, this seems like a good place to learn a thing or two. I appreciate your effort!

    Love this video, I have the same trouble as Amor about making the head first. I’ve been trying to practice drawing the body out first before doing the head becouse of this video. Hm maybe you could do a video on different ways to sketch out bodies.

    Amor,
    generally it’s best to sketch out the entire pose before filling in details, including the face and head. It’s always tempting to start there, but you won’t get the best results by drawing a floating head first.

    Interesting, one thing I’d like to ask is if it’s better to sketch out the entire body before working on the head? I tend to do better with heads than arms or legs so I rush to finish them first but that might be part of the reason I have trouble filling out the rest of the body ^^;
